Opportunities in Hotel &
Tourism Industry
There has been tremendous growth in the tourism industry
over the past few decades. This had been testified with
“World Tourism
Guide” nominating
India the 5th most popular destination in the world.
India’s flourishing tourism sector has been beneficial
for its hotel industry also.
India, with its diverse cultures and rich heritage has
been attracting visitors from all over the world. The
rise in corporate activity leading to greater number of
business trips as well as a desire to travel on holiday,
have in turn, made the hospitality industry a very
competitive one.
We must now consider the future plans for the new era.
There has been a 15.5% increase in the number of
tourist’s arrivals and 23% increase in the total foreign
earnings. Today hospitality and tourism is the world’s
largest generator of jobs in this global industry will
continue to add another 130 million jobs in the next 10
years, The unprecedented growth in this sector has
created a skyrocketing demand for management personnel.
Tourism in India has branched out in several categories:
like Health, Eco Adventure Tourism. Health and Medical
tourism, perceived as one of the fasted growing segment,
has great potential in marketing “Destination India”
today. Maharashtra, as a gateway of India, offers
tremendous potential to develop medical tourism. Hotels
like Hyatt Regency, JW Marriott, Renaissance and Resort
offer extensive facilities aimed at rejuvenating both
domestic and International tourist.
Nature Tourism is the fastest growing segment boasting
of a growth rate of about 20% India, the land of
geographical varieties offers several tourist
destinations that not just de-stress but also rejuvenate
in several ways to enjoy Mother Nature in the most
pristine way. Eco-tours of India marketed in a very
subtle way, have managed to attract tourist by the
scores.
With Maharashtra steep cliffs, sprightly waterfalls
snaking their way through ridges, and dense forests, its
but natural that adventure sports cannot lag far behind.
Viewed as a high tourists potential sector, the
Maharashtra Government has justifiably supported
adventure sport like rock climbing, trekking, water
sports, in its bid to offer an action packed vacation.
